Should you run your system everyday, to be able to restart on schedule is extremely useful. For instance, you can configure Windows to restart automatically at nighttime to set up updates. This way, it's not necessary to be worried about abrupt restart or remembering to restart the machine outside active hours.

So, within this simple and quick guide, allow me to show the steps to make use of the job scheduler to restart Windows computer automatically at particular times.

Note: Along with Windows 10, the steps shown below will work in Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Steps to Schedule Restart Windows

Type "-r -f -t 10" within the arguments field.
Click "Ok".
(Optional) Visit the "Conditions" tab and select the "Start the task only if the computer is idle" checkbox. That way, the machine is only going to restart if it's idle. i.e, not doing anything. Click "Ok".

That's it. You've created a scheduled task to automatically restart Windows. From now on, Windows will reboot itself according to the task configuration. Right before restarting, it'll show a little message giving any active users an opportunity to save the job.

As you can see, it is pretty easy to perform a scheduled restart while using task scheduler tool in Windows. If you wish to, you may also display a popup message utilizing a task scheduler right before restarting the system.

When you're browsing through your hard disk in File Explorer (aka Windows Explorer), most folders open quickly. However, the Downloads folder, that is probably the most frequent and important places on your pc, normally takes 10 seconds or longer to completely load. When you watch in frustration, a standing bar in Explorer slowly fills itself for no apparent reason, even if you have a fast computer having a speedy SSD.

The slow-loading Downloads folder problem occurs because, by default, Windows is trying to produce thumbnails for photos and videos in the folder, even if none of the files are pictures. Having a quick settings change, you can make the Downloads folder open quickly in Windows 7, 8 or 10. Here's how.

1. Open File Explorer. You will get there by hitting Windows Key + E or clicking on the explorer icon in your taskbar.

2. Right click the Downloads shortcut within the right window pane and select Properties.

3. Visit the Customize tab.

4. Select "General items" in the "Optimize this folder for:" list.

5. Click Ok.

One of the coolest features of the Windows 10 Creators Update involves obtaining a better listening knowledge about premium headphones. Spatial sound, as it's called, gives headphones a kind of 3D effect or one that more closely resembles true multichannel audio -- with respect to the source.

Unfortunately, it's disabled by default. Here's how you can enable it.

Right click on the sound icon towards the bottom right of the system tray.
Select Playback devices in the context menu.
Click on the headphones or speaker type you'd prefer to enable spatial sound for.
Click on the Properties button at the end right.
Choose the Spatial Sound tab at the top.
In the dropdown menu, select Windows Sonic for Headphones (or any other, if it's for any speaker).
Click the OK button to finish.

While I typically use my browser with only a handful of tabs open at the same time, there are plenty of people out there who actually keep tens, hundreds, of even thousands of sites loaded simultaneously.

While it's hard to find a very good reason for anybody carrying this out, it appears as though there are numerous individuals who open tons of tabs in the search engines Chrome, as the search giant has decided to develop a feature that would help you to find the tab they need.

Called tab search, the new feature will pretty much allow users to simply search for a tab within the plethora of websites that are loaded in Google Chrome.

For example, this person who loaded 6,000 tabs in Chrome would actually need this type of feature, although it goes without saying that at 1.4TB RAM usage recorded through the browser, searching might take a while.

Still in the early days

At this point, however, the new feature is still in the early days, so nobody knows exactly when it's supposed to launch for users. But when it happens, expect it to go reside in the Canary build of Chrome first, accompanied by Dev, beta, and eventually the development build.

Google Chrome getting this selection is good news throughout Chromium browsers too, since many could be updated concentrating on the same functionality too.

One of these is Microsoft Edge, the default Windows 10 browser that also launch on macOS and will soon go survive Linux too. Using Chromium as the engine that powers the entire experience, Edge is getting a few of the features which make their debut in Chrome too, and that i wouldn't be very surprised to determine the tab search being implemented in Microsoft's app too.

CCleaner has become flagged like a Potentially Unwanted Application, or PUA, by Microsoft's Windows Defender antivirus, and it is installation is thus blocked on Windows 10 devices.

As the software originally added CCleaner to the threat database with only several details, Microsoft published an update on July 29 to describe why precisely the application is blocked by Windows Defender.

Microsoft says CCleaner itself is not really a dangerous program but its installer includes certain software, such as Google Chrome, google's Toolbar, Avast and AVG antivirus that users may not want.

"Certain installers free of charge and 14-day trial versions of CCleaner include bundled applications, including applications that are not required by CCleaner or produced by the same publisher Piriform. While the bundled applications are legitimate, bundling of software, especially products from other providers, can lead to unexpected software activity that may negatively impact user experiences," Microsoft says.

CCleaner installation blocked

They are all clean apps, Microsoft emphasizes, and regardless of the CCleaner installer offering a setting to opt out and stop them from downloading and installing, quite a few users may not necessarily spot these options and wind up running software they didn't ask for in the first place.

"Some installers for that free form of CCleaner, also according to Nullsoft, have an installer for Google Chrome using the file name PF-Chrome-2019.exe. After installing Google Chrome, the installer sets the bundled application because the default web browser. Some variants of the identical installer include the Google Toolbar to Chrome as an extension," Microsoft says.

Consequently, Windows Defender just blocks CCleaner completely, so long as the installer itself includes such software bundled by default. However, worthwhile to learn isn't that all installers are blocked, as Piriform, the Avast-owned maker of CCleaner, can also be offering separate packages which come without any other programs provided to users throughout the installation.

It's not the Aero Glass of Windows Vista, but Windows 10's transparency effects certainly aren't for everyone. The transparency effects are visible automatically in Start Menu, the Taskbar and Action center -- although each are easily disabled if they aren't to your liking.

1. Launch Settings by clicking the beginning Menu and then Settings.
2. Choose Personalization in the list of options.
3. Select Colors from the options within the left sidebar.
4. Toggle the button under Make Start, taskbar, and action center transparent to Off.

Back in October 2014 when it launched the Windows Insider program, Microsoft promised the way forward for Windows could be entirely decided by users, who have been invited to sign up in the development of the operating-system by testing preview builds, sending feedback, and sharing their suggestions.

To streamline the connection between the company and users, Microsoft launched the Insider Hub for Windows Insiders, an application whose purpose was to allow testers to send feedback inside a more effective manner.

The app eventually became the Feedback Hub in May 2016, just ahead of the debut from the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, with Microsoft also opening it to everyone.

Starting with this transformation, pretty much anyone running Windows 10 can send feedback to the company while using Feedback Hub.

Needless to say, Microsoft has insisted for Windows 10 users to always turn to the Feedback Hub whenever they had a break through for that operating system or they came across something they deemed must be improved. Whether or not Microsoft used this feedback to improve Windows 10 is something that's totally debatable, but on the other hand, there have been times when the organization actually made people believe reporting bugs was just a waste of time.

In 2018, Microsoft launched the Windows 10 October 2018 Update with a glitch that caused removing files kept in libraries. While this wasn't an extensive problem, it forced Microsoft to pull the feature update completely, simply to be discovered that several users reported it within the Feedback Hub months before the go-ahead was given.

So technically, users told Microsoft about this issue, that the organization missed it.

Recently, users learned that the Feedback Hub has become the home of political trolls and spammers, with a few of the posts being there for over a month. For whatever reason, nobody at Microsoft removed these abusive posts, so that as you can see within the screenshot here, the Feedback Hub can barely be considered a platform for sharing feedback at this time.

Given all of these, the criticism against Microsoft and the way it handles feedback is gaining traction. Does Microsoft even worry about feedback? This is the question that a lot of users ask nowadays, obviously with no answer that may convince them sending feedback continues to be well worth the effort.

As the Feedback Hub seems a flop, I think Microsoft can continue to save it. And here are the 3 changes the company should implement as quickly as possible to prioritize high-quality submissions:

Introduce an upvote/downvote feature for feedback. The Feedback Hub already allows users to upvote certain ideas, but on the other hand, downvoting isn't possible. A reddit-like approach will make it easier for high-quality submissions to become prioritized, while things like spam and redundant posts would just disappear considerably faster.

Hire a dedicated team to keep things organized. Removing spam and posts that don't make sense at all, grouping submissions in collections, and overall taking care of the Feedback Hub much like it takes place on an online community is one thing which should take place in this app too. The Feedback Hub is just too important for the future of Windows to depart spam inside for Thirty days without anyone caring about it.

Share more information about what's happening with the feedback. Every submission (or collection) should get a response in the dev team, and Microsoft should clearly indicate what it's working on and just what it intends to do with the feedback in the long term. An example of methods this could work is the Waze feedback forum (hosted on UserVoice), in which the Google-owned team marks submissions with a series of tags like planned, within the works, or released. Microsoft is applying exactly the same platform for many of their products, including OneDrive.

After the day, the Feedback Hub isn't whatsoever an awful idea, it's just poorly implemented and barely taken care of. Using the right improvements, it may end up being the app that can allow users to bring about the introduction of Windows, much like Microsoft promised in the first place. Of course, if the company really likes you feedback.

If you're not keen on the default font in Windows 10, Segoe, you can change it out for your preferred font with a simple registry tweak. This will alter the fonts for Windows 10's icons, menus, title bar text, File Explorer, and more.

First we'll back up your registry settings, so that you can reverse the changes in case you don't like them later. Then we'll simply update the registry having a .reg file.

1. Press Win+R.

2. Type in regedit and press Enter.

3. Visit File > Export… to save the registry file somewhere in your hard disk.

4. Open Notepad and copy and paste the following into it:

Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts]
"Segoe UI (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Black (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Black Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Historic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Light (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Light Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Semibold (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Semibold Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Semilight (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Semilight Italic (TrueType)"=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes]
"Segoe UI"="Verdana"

Replace Verdana within the last line with the name of the font you want to use as your system default. You might have to spread out your Fonts folder (search for "fonts" within the Windows taskbar) to obtain the full, correct name of the font.

5. Click File > Save.

6. Change the "Save as" type to "All Files."

7. Within the File name field, give the file a .reg extension. You can name it anything, so long as it ends in .reg.

8. Click Save.

9. Double-click the registry file you simply created to run it. You'll be prompted to allow the file to create changes to the computer and ensure you need to continue, then get confirmation the alterations were successfully made.

10. Restart your pc to see the font change applied across Windows 10.

Just don't change the default font to something similar to Wingdings, lest you render your system completely unreadable.
